Webinar Abstract

Event Type: Webinar

When: 15th April 2010

Economic uncertainty means that sustainability is a crucial issue for organisations and research has shown that effective leadership is a key driver of sustained organisational performance. Studies show that outstanding leaders have a number of common characteristics: are self-aware, people-centred and think and act holistically.

Management development, whether through management education programmes, experiential learning , coaching or mentoring, can build on leadership capabilities in a number of ways. Managers at all levels can gain greater understanding of the leadership capabilities most likely to make a difference  and improve their self-awareness of ways in which their own leadership expertise could be enhanced to bring about sustainable organisational improvements.

This webinar will discuss the leadership capabilities necessary for sustained organisational performance and explore how these can be enhanced by management development initiatives. It will draw on case studies from a range of organisations to show the extent to which management development has enhanced leadership capability in middle and line managers and the effects this has had on organisational performance.
