Webinar Abstract

Title: Dealing with Big Kids, Control Freaks and Ego Maniacs

Event Type: Webinar

When: 5th May 2010

Cost: FREE

Big kids, control freaks and ego maniacs all have one thing in common, and it's not that they make you want to stab them in the neck with a biro. They all use and abuse personal power.

CarterCorson are Business Psychologists who use applied psychology to improve how organisations perform. In this session we will use Transactional Analysis to explain why we find people who need to grow up or stop trying to control us so hard to deal with, how they play power games with us; and how their style of communication affects our relationship with them. We will explore how tone and body language can completely change the psychological message that people hear - ie how people interpret what you say.

As well as teaching you the psychology you need to understand why they are the way they are, we will also explain how to handle these difficult characters more easily. This session will cover techniques you can use to make sure that you can say what you mean, without being misunderstood.

Key learnings:

  • Why some people's communication style is so difficult to deal with
  • How to use an understanding of power dynamics (Transactional Analysis)  to win the power games people play with you
  • How tone and body language change the meaning of what you say
  • How to communicate so that what you mean is what others hear
